Jenny Castillo, Andante Conductor

Conductor of OPYO's Andante Orchestra, Jenny is an Orchestra Director and high strings teacher in the Bentonville Public School district, currently teaching at Ruth Barker Middle School. Her students have earned high rankings in the NWA All-Region competition and earn superior ratings at competitions.
Jenny and her husband, Santiago, own and direct Casa Castillo where Jenny runs a Suzuki Violin Studio and Spanish Immersion Childcare Center. Her violin studio provides a comprehensive Suzuki program serving students from preschool and beyond. Her students perform across Northwest Arkansas. She also provides a student-teacher program coaching and training capable high school musicians to become student teachers.
While her focus at this phase in her life is on her family and the education side of musicianship, she has performed as a violinist with the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra and as a soprano with the Singers of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. Jenny has three children, Santiago (6yo), Isabella (3yo), and Alexander (1yo).
Jenny studied Music Education at Brigham Young University and Early Childhood Education at John Brown University. She is dedicated to continuing her education through professional development courses and teacher training programs.
Jenny’s strengths are in motivating and engaging students to reach their full potential. She has high expectations for her students and a beautiful tone and proper technique are always priorities. She believes in partnering with parents and community members and loves serving with the Ozark Philharmonic Youth Orchestras.
