Jerry Lane, Presto Conductor
Jerry Lane is a musician and teacher with 35 years of public school orchestra experience. He has taught for the Pulaski County (central Arkansas), Pine Bluff, Fort Smith and Rogers school districts. He has directed orchestras at the University of Arkansas (12 years) and University of Central Arkansas (4 years) summer orchestra camps. He has directed numerous All Region orchestras as well. He is currently an adjunct faculty member of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He is also currently the principal bassist for the Fort Smith Symphony and the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra. He has extensive experience as a bassist for rock, jazz, country, bluegrass and big bands.
He holds a BSE in Instrumental Music from the University of Arkansas where he played in both the orchestra and the Razorback band (saxophone). He also has a MSE in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Mr. Lane enjoys the outdoors via biking, hiking, kayaking and fishing. He is married to Greta Lane. He is a native of McAlester, Oklahoma.
