Parent Volunteering

We ask all OPYO families to provide 3 volunteer hours or provide snacks each season.

Parent Volunteering Opportunities

Sign up to volunteer
There are lots of ways to volunteer to help make OPYO a great experience for our students, families, and community.

A list of tasks we need fulfilled:

Parent Guild board members: All OPYO parents are automatically members of the Parent Guild, which has a separate budget from OPYO and operates as a supporting organization to provide extra activities and opportunities for our musicians, such as summer camp scholarships, the end-of-the-year bowling party, etc. They are a wonderful resource for our kids, and must have a governing 4-person board in order to operate: president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. The time commitment includes meeting as a board a few times per semester as needed to plan and to lead a parent meeting once per semester (or as needed) to keep parents informed.

Music librarian for each ensemble: We would like one parent per ensemble to organize this. Makes copies of the purchased music for the students to use. Make sure we have a few extras of each part on hand during rehearsals. All expenses will be reimbursed, or you may use the OPYO portable printer.

Tuition collection: Help is needed during the first three rehearsals of each semester to collect payments.

Snacks/water: Provide snacks for the student to enjoy during their break.

Concert and event assistance: Tasks include setting up/breaking down the stage area, green room supervision, and ushers.
